Free Pattern update
I originally posted the Sisson Street Hat in 2016 (link to original post). It didn’t get a lot of attention at the time and I feel like it’s a really good gift knit so I’ve updated the pattern a bit, improved the layout, and am sharing out the new pattern PDF.
This is a pretty simple knit. I have it listed as being at an intermediate skill level as it requires knitting and purling in the round and working decreases, but if you can knit in the round, you can probably work this hat. And if you’re looking for a good gift knit, this is a great option. The pattern is two versions of ribbing (1×1 and 11×1) followed by crown decreases.
And I do like a tidy swirly hat crown. A lot of patterns use cabling and so I don’t always end up with this kind of a spiral (pictured below). I find this hat really satisfying and hope you do to! If you make this hat, share your photos on instagram and tag #knitmckinley.
