Calla Street is the name of the street in Washington Park we lived on while looking for a home here in Rhode Island. It’s a narrow street lined with houses and dead-ends at Roger Williams Park.
It’s an absolutely wonderful part of Providence – you’re close to downtown, the park, and it has a lovely community feel.
I decided to name this hat and cowl after Calla Street because the idea for the pattern originated there and because something about the pattern evokes the same feeling of ease that living there did.

A note about the yarn (this is not paid advertising/paid endorsement): The better breakfast DK by Barenaked Wools is an absolute treat to work with it. The color is gorgeous, the yarn has a lovely feel, and the knitting just shows so well with the yarn. I can’t recommend the yarn enough.
